Building Permits Fees & Procedure

The building permit application must be submitted to City Hall and will be reviewed by the city for completeness. If any electrical, plumbing, or HVAC work will be performed, that will be added to the calculations for the building permit fee.

Permit Application Requirements

• Plans. One (1) set of plans must be submitted with the application for residential work, and three (3) sets are required for commercial work.
• Variances. If any setback requirements will be violated, a variance will be required. A Variance Request Application must accompany the building permit application.

• Certificate of Appropriateness. If the structure is within the Historic District and the work is external, a Certificate of Appropriateness application must submitted to, and approved by, the Blanco Historic Preservation Commission.

Plan Review Fees

• At the time of submission, the city will collect a review fee.
• Residential/Commercial Remodel Fee. $25 plus:

  $0.08 sq. ft. Slab/Structure

  $0.08 sq. ft. Electric

  $0.08 sq. ft. Plumbing

  $0.08 sq. ft. HVAC

• Residential/Commercial New Construction Add Fees Above Plus:

  0 to 1,500 sq. ft.	$250
  1,501 to 3,000 sq. ft.	$300
  3,001 to 5,000 sq. ft.	$400
  5,000+ sq. ft.	$500 + $50 per 1,000 sq. ft.

Permit Fees
When a permit has been approved, the city will collect the actual permit fee, which is $50 per inspection.

If additional inspections are needed, there is a $50 charge per inspection and the city will not release the final inspection slip or Certificate of Occupancy until the fees are paid.

• Demolition Permit. $25.

  0-1,500 sq. ft.	$100 + $100 inspection fee	$200

At the final inspection, the client will be informed that they may pick up the final inspection slip or Certificate of Occupancy at city hall. Additional fees will be collected at that time.
